境内配偶担保是指受担保的配偶或伴侣在加拿大境内居住。受担保人必须在加拿大有临时合法身份，如工作签证、学习签证或旅游签证。申请团聚的同时受担保人有资格申请开放式工签Open Work Permit (OWP)，可以合法在加拿大生活，工作。
近年来加拿大配偶团聚有所变化，主要表现在：审批时间缩短，尤其是境内团聚申请，由以往的两年左右缩短至12个月以内；随行子女年龄上限由19岁上调至22岁，即未满22岁的子女有资格跟随申请人一起申请移民；体检通知不能成为判断申请进度的参考，审批的初级阶段可能就会被要求体检；证明婚姻的材料要求更加精简，而不是多多益善。

2017–07-18: Canada Post 显示移民局收到申请材料
2017-08-23：收到移民局(IRCC) 的Application Number和Unique Client Identifier。注意为了加快移民审批进度，要根据邮件要求建立网上账户，以便快捷的接收移民局的通知，查看移民进展。建立网上账户后移民局要求提交Schedule A 表格和无犯罪记录

2017-12-08：移民局邮件通知已经申请到开放性工签及其号码和有效期，但是此文件不能做为正式的工签使用
2017-12-18：收到移民局邮寄的纸质版的开放性工签
2017-12-19: 持开放性工签和雇主信申请安省的健康卡
2018-03-19: 收到移民局体检通知 （移民体检简介)
2018-05-18：自身原因体检推迟到05.18
2018-06-01：移民局通知申请人符合境内配偶团聚申请资格（Eligibility Passed)
